Great success for Kingsbridge Town
at the Britain in Bloom South West Awards
You may remember a few months ago that Kingsbridge in Bloom was featured in Toby Buckland's Gardeners World BBC program on Radio Devon. Graham Price the chairman of Kingsbridge in Bloom chatted to Toby and discussed the formation of Kingsbridge in Bloom and our theme this year for our entry to RHS South West in Bloom.

Grey skies and heavy rain greeted the RHS South West in Bloom delegates to the 2019 South West in Bloom (SWIB) awards function at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay on Friday 11th October. Over 400 people from our region were greeted by the Mayor of Newquay and Lord and Lady Julian Fellowes, patrons of SWIB in what turned out to be an outstanding success for Kingsbridge.
The team won Gold for the main town entry and the Ayre Cup for the very best in class with their stunning sustainable planting displays.
This year the town also entered seven neighbourhood areas into the competition all of which also won the highest possible grade of outstanding with the Kingsbridge Community Garden being recognised as the best community entry and the Gordon Ford Trophy.

We were delighted that the judges commented that the Kingsbridge entry was well organised, with a dedicated and enthusiastic team of volunteers that ticked all of the boxes regarding the judging criteria of community involvement, horticulture and environmental responsibility.
With 10 successive gold and numerous discretionary awards, the team were nominated this year to also participate in the 2019 RHS National Champion of Champions, which involved an additional judging at the highest possible level, the results of which will be announced in two weeks time at the headquarters of the RHS in Westminster, London.
