How Kingsbridge in Bloom is Organised

Kingsbridge in Bloom would be nothing without its wonderful group of dedicated voluntary helpers building and caring for the numerous floral areas that have been generated around our town.  To help steer this small army of willing helpers there has to be a democratically elected committee to look after the organisation, running and financing of the group.
Every year the committee make a plan for the year, concentrating on the major public spaces such as The Town Square, the embankment, the Recreation Ground and Fore Street, with the aim of having something new for everyone to enjoy.
Committee members take responsibility for fund-raising, mentoring neighbourhood projects, events, environmental care, as needed.

We also encourage local groups and neighbours to work together on projects close to home, so that the impact of Kingsbridge in Bloom is felt throughout the town.
There are now several neighbourhood projects up and down the town, all competing in South West in Bloom. (Photos)

We work closely with Kingsbridge Town Council and South Hams District Council, and with many local organisations such as the WI, the Estuary Boat Club, the Community Garden, the Gardeners Club and the Twinning Association,  to name but a few.
KIB is open to all residents of the town who would like to help in any way.

Our Mission:

  • To enhance the natural environment and quality of life in Kingsbridge for the benefit of residents, traders and visitors to the area.
  • To support and encourage residents and businesses to value and improve their local environments.
  • To encourage sustainable development where ever possible.
  • To measure our success by entering the regional Britain in Bloom competition.
  • To work hand in hand for improvement with the local authority.
