Success in Earlier Years
2014 - Gold, Shared win of "Champion of Champions" Cup
SWIB Awards Ceremony in Trowbridge, we learned that we had won Gold for the fifth time. We were judged for the first time in the "Champion of Champions" group, and were delighted to learn that we shared the group Cup with Truro. Most of our "It's Your Neighbourhood" entries were also rated "Outstanding".
2013 - Gold, Cup and "Most Meritorious Entry"
In the words of our chairman - With great expectation we visited the SWIB awards which were held in Truro this year and were absolutely delighted with gold for the town, best in class and two RHS discretionary awards, for outstanding effort and dedication from a competition entry and the sponsors blue ribband award for the most meritorious entry. - It does not come much better than that!
2012 - Gold and the SWTA Cup
At the RHS South West In Bloom Awards, held in Weston Super-Mare, Kingsbridge excelled, with three golds in a row. Kingsbridge was awarded Gold and the SWTA Cup, winning in the Small Towns group, narrowly pipping Chipping Sodbury in Bloom.
The town won five Neighbourhood awards: Level Five ("Outstanding") for the Community Garden and for the Church Street Garden, a level four award ("Thriving") for Britton's Field, and level three awards ("Developing") for the Lime Kiln and for the Primrose Line Railway Garden.
2011 - Gold and the SWTA Cup
September 15th – Newquay – the scene of great jubilation when the Kingsbridge in Bloom team, headed by Project Manager Graham Price and accompanied by Mayor John Binns heard that we had repeated last year’s Golden success, and also taken the Cup for Best Entry in the small town category of South West in Bloom.
Added to the main Award, there were 4 further Awards in the Its Your Neighbourhood competition, where there are 5 grades. Once again the Community Garden achieved the top Award of Outstanding Achievement, but our other three entries, all new this year – the Primary school, Britton’s Field and The Church Street Garden were awarded Level 3 – to everyone’s delight.
