Volunteering
KIB came into being in 2007 and since then has grown a strong team of volunteers, ready to work all year round. Would you like to join in and be one of the boys and girls in blue?!

The Gold-winning team includes several experienced gardeners, but what we really need are people ready to turn a hand to anything - from planning events for fund-raising to delivering posters, making tea and tidying up their own patch, and of course weeding and watering - so there are opportunities for everyone.

The committee meets monthly and volunteers are aways welcome to come along to share ideas and decisions.  This way the campaign can stay fresh and lively.  So what's stopping you?
Call Graham Price on 01548 854488 if you feel you can help in any way.

Funding
Award-winning campaigns require funds to build on success.
We need money for materials and for projects that we run centrally, or to support projects which are part of our campaign, but are undertaken by other groups which do not have their own funding. Kingsbridge in Bloom continues to raise funds from a variety of sources:
  • Local Authorities, including Devon County Council, South Hams District Council and Kingsbridge Town Council
  • Local businesses, both through the Chamber of Commerce and independently
  • Local Charities
  • Private citizens, through direct collections/donations, events and the Monthly Draw (see downloads)

Examples of current sponsorship projects :
  • The Old Railway Bridge on Plymouth Road - a project initiated and funded by the Kingsbridge Information Centre - is now being upgraded and maintained by volunteers
  • Fore Street and Town Square  - Water-retaining baskets on the posts on have all been sponsored by local businesses and societies.
  • Quay Car Park - Kingsbridge Gardeners Club organise the planting and maintenance of the raised beds
  • Church Street Garden - an area close to the Regal Club has been transformed by a group of local residents, and is now an attractive sitting and play area.
  • Top of Fore street - new planters, funded by local residents
  • The Town Square project - Stage 1 in 2010 saw the introduction of sustainable planting and water storage, partly funded by Beers solicitors. Stage 2, funded by Tesco, involves new planting and seating.
  • Britton's Field - which has been developed partly as a result of a bequest by a member of the Ramblers, to provide an attractive picnic area, where "Walkers are Welcome!"
  • Wild-flower-planting in various sites round town.
